The third edition of the Middle East Clean Energy conference and exhibition opened in Beirut, in the presence of Caretaker Minister of Energy Walid Fayad.
The event highlighted advancements in clean and renewable energy, showcasing technologies like inverters, panels, batteries, and project financing.
Minister Fayad emphasized Lebanon's commitment to sustainable, cost-effective energy solutions, noting the growth in solar and wind energy markets, with solar water heating systems exceeding 900,000 square meters.
Moreover, the Energy Minister highlighted the current cost of electricity production from clean energy at around 6 or 7 cents per kilowatt-hour, significantly lower than from private generators.
Plans include constructing 11 solar power plants with 165 megawatts capacity, aiming for 30 percent of national consumption from renewable sources by 2030.
The exhibition aims to raise awareness of green energy's importance, offering free public attendance.
The event continues until tomorrow at the Venezia Hotel in Beirut.
