AN AIRLINE will launch flights to a pretty African island - offering a new connection for British holidaymakers.
EasyJet has confirmed a new route will operate between Lisbon and Porto to Cape Verde in West Africa.

According to Aviation24, the new route will depart airports in both Lisbon and Porto before arriving in Cape Verde.
While the new route doesn't technically touch down in the UK, it does give Brit holidaymakers another flight option to the sub-tropical islands.
Before being able to board the new easyJet route to Cape Verde, passengers from the UK will first need to fly to either Lisbon or Porto.
The new flights are set to operate from October, with fares starting from €83.99 (£72.28).

There will be four weekly services from Lisbon and a twice-weekly service from Porto.
The new routes will provide an additional 50,000 seats for the winter season.

Located in West Africa in the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Verde is made up of several sub-tropical and volcanic islands.
Boasting tropical temperatures and low rainfall throughout the year, Cape Verde is the perfect destination for a summer break or a winter getaway.

Sal and Boa Vista are the two islands favoured by Brits thanks to their picture-perfect beaches and hotel resorts.
Sal is the most popular with most of the large hotel resorts found along the beaches that are a hotspot for surfers.
While Boa Vista is known for its Blue Flag beaches and is much less touristy.
What is Cape Verde like?
The Sun's Head of Travel (Digital) Caroline McGuire visited Cape Verde in 2022, so knows all about the idyllic islands.
Caroline McGuire Head of Travel (Digital) says: "Cape Verde is certainly the place for those seeking winter sun, with the average highs reaching 24C in December.
"And the best part is, unlike the far-flung sunny favourites, like Florida, this collection of ten islands in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean can be reached in less than six hours from the UK.
"Skin-scorching sun isn’t the only reason to pay a visit to the Portuguese-speaking country, though.
"For those who like a bit of adrenaline, there’s kite-surfing along the aptly named Kite Beach (you’ll need strong arms), plus quad-biking on the desert landscape that makes up the bulk of the inner island."
Santo Antão has been named one of the most visually impressive islands and a "hidden gem" because few people choose to visit throughout the year.
For instance, Santa Luzia is uninhabited but accessible via boat ride from Sao Vicente.
Other islands include the likes of Fogo, Santiago, Maio, Brava, Santa Luzia and São Nicolau.

To travel to Cape Verde, your passport must have at least six months left on arrival.
Brits can also stay in Cape Verde for up to 30 days without a visa.
The currency is Cape Verdean escudo (CVE) - £10 is around 1,281 escudo.
And easyJet isn't the only airline set to launch new routes shortly.
New regional routes across UK
Just last month, a regional airline announced that it would be launching a brand-new route from a tiny UK airport.
From the end of June, Southampton Airport will get direct flights to Caean thanks to regional airline Chalair Aviation.
Earlier this month, Ryanair launched brand-new flights from Norwich Airport to several holiday hotspots.
Brit holidaymakers in East Anglia can now fly to Alicante, Faro and Malta from Norwich Airport with Ryanair.
Flights will operate on both Mondays and Fridays, making these routes an ideal choice for a long weekend away.
Ryanair has also launched new flights from Cardiff Airport.

Meanwhile, easyJet is set to operate a brand-new route between London Gatwick and a newly-revamp airport in Italy.
The airline will fly twice weekly from London Gatwick to Pontecagnano (Salerno) Airport, which is currently undergoing a huge £400million renovation.
