SC order releasing Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is an innovative one. Carefully worded, it lets him participate in the ongoing electoral process, and doesn’t comment on the merits of the charges against him. The Lok Sabha elections are at the heart of the order. It’s well-intended to preserve electoral democracy.

Haryana BJP govt’s position appears untenable but it may not be prudent to precipitate polls

Haryana developments are an unedifying spectacle. The BJP government’s position appears untenable and its majority should be tested. With Lok Sabha polls on and assembly elections due in October, it may not be prudent to precipitate things. Interim stability must be ensured by what now looks like a caretaker government.

Follow up ICMR protein supplements norms with production regulation, food safety standards

ICMR’s has revised its dietary guidelines after 13 years and rightly called for limiting the consumption of protein supplements. Protein intake is important but not its indiscriminate use. Modi comment shows Ambani-Adani new political cuss word. Demonising job creators is tragic

  2. PMLA has made bail virtually impossible. As seen from the exceedingly limited relief which could be granted to a sitting CM by the SC. How could the high court or a trial court move to uphold the norm of Bail is the rule, jail the exception created by the SC itself. Such a drastic curtailment of liberty prior to conviction or even commencement of trial should be seen in cases relating to terrorism or abhorrent violent crime. Money laundering is white collar crime, a variant of tax evasion. There is a case for the honourable apex court to review bail jurisprudence comprehensively.
