New Jersey’s month-long lineup of St. Patrick’s Day parades is marching on this weekend.
There will be four parades on Saturday and another four on Sunday. (See the full list of New Jersey’s upcoming parades below.)
This weekend’s parades are in: Asbury Park and Rumson in Monmouth County; Atlantic City in Atlantic County; Hamilton in Mercer County; Hackettstown in Warren County; Newton in Sussex County; Seaside Heights in Ocean County; and Woodbridge in Middlesex County.
Five parades were held last weekend, including the 52nd Belmar-Lake Como parade that included 6,700 scheduled marchers. The others were in Gloucester City, Mount Holly, Nutley and Rutherford.
New Jersey’s oldest St. Patrick’s Day parade, held in Newark starting in 1936, is on March 14.
The actual St. Patrick’s Day holiday is March 17.
The Ocean County St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Seaside Heights is among those taking place Saturday.
Tom King, the parade committee’s president, said he was in high school when the annual tradition began a half-century ago with a loop inside the Ocean County Mall in Toms River.
“I’ve never missed a parade,” said King, a drum major for the Shamrock and Thistle Pipe Band.
New Jersey’s parade schedule concludes in Keansburg on March 29.
While Irish ancestry remains the second most common in New Jersey, after Italian, the percentage has declined in recent years. Approximately 1.1 million residents, or 11.9%, reported a familial connection to Ireland in 2020 U.S. Census data, down from 14% in 2016.

Asbury Park
The Asbury Park St. Patrick’s Day parade is Sunday, March 9, at 1 p.m. The parade route begins at the intersection of Ocean and Fourth avenues and heads downtown, ending at the corner of Cookman Avenue and Main Street.

Atlantic City
The Atlantic City St. Patrick’s Day parade is Saturday, March 8, at 1 p.m. It takes place on the iconic Atlantic City Boardwalk.
Bayonne
The Bayonne St. Patrick’s Day parade is Sunday, March 23, at 1 p.m. The parade route begins at Broadway and Fifth Street, heads north to 39th Street and west to Avenue C before ending at the entrance of Stephen R. Gregg/Bayonne County Park. Mary Hurley Cole is the grand marshal.
Bergenfield
The 43nd annual Bergen County St. Patrick’s Day parade is Sunday, March 16. The parade route runs along Washington Avenue. Bergen County Surrogate Michael Dressler is the grand marshal.
Clinton
The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of Hunterdon County will hold its 11th St. Patrick’s Day parade on Sunday, March 16, at 3 p.m.
Cranford
A new St. Patrick’s Day parade is making its debut in 2025. The Cranford St. Patrick’s Parade is Sunday, March 16, at 1 p.m. It is being organized by the Cranford St. Patrick’s Parade Committee, chaired by Cranford Mayor Terrence Curran. Marchers will start by the Cranford Public Library, proceed along Walnut Avenue and finish at Springfield Avenue. Barry O’Donovan, the grand marshal, owned the Kilkenny House Restaurant & Pub, which closed in 2021.
Freehold
The Freehold Borough Arts Council’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade is Sunday, March 16, at 12:30 p.m. Tim MacCutcheon is the grand marshal.
Hamilton, Mercer County
The Original St. Patrick’s Day parade at Hamilton is Saturday, March 8, at 1 p.m. It was first held in Hamilton in 1986. The parade route begins at the Nottingham Fire House on Mercer Street in Hamilton. Todd Faulkner, owner of the Tir Na Nog Irish Pub, is the grand marshal.
Hackettstown
Hackettstown’s 16th annual St. Patrick’s parade is Sunday, March 9, at 3:30 p.m. It typically draws 14,000 spectators and a wide range of participants, including sports teams and clubs from Centenary University and Hackettstown High School. Mary Litweiler is the grand marshal.
Harrison/East Newark/Kearny
The United Irish Associations of West Hudson St. Patrick’s Day parade is Sunday, March 16, at 1 p.m. It runs between the municipal buildings in Harrison and Kearny while passing through East Newark. Mark G. Wiggins, manager of the Wilfred Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home in Kearny, is the grand marshal.
Highlands
The Highlands 20th annual St. Patrick’s Day parade is Saturday, March 22, at 2 p.m. Timothy Hill is the grand marshal.

Jersey City
Jersey City hosts two St. Patrick’s Day parades. The first, and larger, parade is on Sunday, March 16, at 1 p.m. The route starts at Dickinson High School and proceeds on Newark Avenue to City Hall, said parade chairperson Maureen Hulings. The grand marshal is the city’s business administrator, John Metro.
The Jersey City One Block parade is Friday, March 21, starting at 4 p.m. at the city’s Police Memorial on Montgomery Street, Hulings said.
Keansburg
The 18th Keansburg St. Patrick’s Day parade is Saturday, March 29, at 1 p.m. The parade route starts on Main Street and concludes on Carr Avenue. The grand marshal is Brian Pigott, a former Keansburg school board member, 43-year Keansburg Fire Department volunteer and the current president of New Point Comfort Fire Company No. 1.

Morristown
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade of Morris County is Saturday, March 15, at 12 p.m. Keith Wood, a bagpiper who has marched in the parade since it began in 1979, is the grand marshal.

Newark
The 90th Newark St. Patrick’s Day parade is Friday, March 14, at 1 p.m. The parade route starts at the corner of Mulberry Street and Raymond Boulevard, heads past the New Jersey Performing Arts Center to Central Avenue before ending on Washington Street. Sean McGovern — a Newark native and attorney who owns McGovern’s Tavern in the city — is the grand marshal.
Newton
The Sussex County St. Patrick’s Day parade is Saturday, March 8, at 11 a.m. It is organized by the Newton Fire Department. The parade route is on Spring Street and concludes at Memory Park.
North Wildwood
The North Wildwood St. Patrick’s Day parade is Saturday, March 15, following a 12 p.m. ceremony at City Hall. The parade route heads north on Atlantic Avenue to 1st Avenue and west on 1st Avenue to Olde New Jersey Avenue, concluding at Spruce and Olde New Jersey avenues.
Ringwood
The 34th Ringwood St. Patrick’s Day parade is Saturday, March 22, at 1 p.m. The parade route starts at the corner of Fieldstone Drive and Skyline Drive.
Rumson
The 12th Rumson St. Patrick’s Day parade is Sunday, March 9. The grand marshal is Christopher Rinn, president and CEO of VNA Health Group.
Sea Isle City
The 33rd Sea Isle City St. Patrick’s Day parade is Saturday, March 15, at 3:30 p.m. The parade route starts at 83rd Street and East Landis Avenue.
Seaside Heights
The 50th anniversary Ocean County St. Patrick’s Day parade is Saturday, March 8, at 12 p.m. The parade route starts on the Boulevard, starting from J-Street and heading north to Carteret Avenue.
Somerville
The Somerville St. Patrick’s Day parade is Sunday, March 16, at 1:30 p.m. The grand marshal is Martin J. Collins, a 90-year-old Somerville resident and father of five whose son, John Collins, was a New York City firefighter killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center.
South Amboy
The South Amboy St. Patrick’s Day parade is Sunday, March 16, at 2 p.m. Mark Herdman, the city’s Office of Emergency Management coordinator, is the grand marshal.
Union Township
The Union County St. Patrick’s Day parade is Saturday, March 15, at 1 p.m. The parade route starts at the intersection of Morris and Jeanette avenues, travels 1.1 miles toward Union Center and turns on Stuyvesant Avenue toward the Union Center Cannon. It was first held in 1997.
West Orange
The 72nd West Orange St. Patrick’s Day parade is Sunday, March 16, at 12:15 p.m. on Main Street. The parade route begins at the corners of Mount Pleasant Avenue and Main Street, heads north on Main Street and ends at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Noel G. O’Keeffe, a digital creator, is the grand marshal.
Woodbridge
The 51st Woodbridge St. Patrick’s Day parade is Sunday, March 9, at 1:30 p.m. Ed McSherry is the grand marshal.
